Diploma of Leadership and Management

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in leadership and management, across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters. They use cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and transfer their knowledge to others, and creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond to complex problems. The course comprises 12 units of competency (6 core and 6 elective), covering team effectiveness, emotional intelligence, communication with influence, critical thinking, workplace relationships, business operational plans, workplace health and safety, sustainability, continuous improvement, professional development, people performance and budgets and financial plans. Delivered face-to-face over a total duration of 58 weeks (1000 hours of training and supervised assessment plus home study), the course leads to a nationally recognised qualification, with career pathways into roles such as Supervisor, Manager and Office Manager, and further study at Advanced Diploma level in the business training package.
