Yes, you need to complete 160 hours (20 days) of work placement. Before commencing work placement, you will be required to get a current national criminal record check to allow you to work in a care service facility. SGSCC will assist you with this application process.
You must hold a current CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health, attend a pre-enrolment meeting with an SGSCC representative, provide a current National Police Check, complete an SGSCC English language, literacy and numeracy assessment (ACSF Level 4), and be a minimum of 18 years of age. You must also be working in the industry, as the course requires workplace assessment to be conducted.
No. This is a competency-based course. You will need to tell and show that you understand and are able to implement the learning you have received. You will be required to competently complete assessment tasks for all 20 units of learning, which may include case studies, demonstration, portfolio of evidence, presentation, questions and answers, and research reports.
The course runs for 8 terms and is delivered face to face on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9am to 4.30pm. Classes commence in week 1 of each school term, and there is no training during school holidays. You should also plan for approximately 5-10 hours per week at home to complete assessment tasks.
When you have completed and been deemed competent, you can progress with SGSCC to the CHC62015 Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management.
