The assessment methods for this course include a mandatory practical placement component of 160 hours. You must complete these placement hours to be able to achieve the competency in the units and successfully complete the course.
ETEA utilises a range of assessment methods including question and answer/written assessment tasks, role play/practical demonstration and observation of skills, practical demonstration and observation of skills in a simulated environment, and practical demonstration and observation of skills in a workplace environment. Assessment will be either a Recognition of Prior Learning pathway or a Training and Assessment pathway.
Pathways from this qualification include CHC52021 – Diploma of Community Services, CHC51015 – Diploma of Counselling, and CHC40421 – Diploma of Youth Work. You may also upskill by attaining CHC62015 – Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management or CHC82015 – Graduate Certificate in Client Assessment and Case Management.
Yes, you can apply for recognition of prior learning, academic credit and work experience towards this qualification. Through work, volunteer roles, family commitments and various tasks undertaken in everyday life, you build up a bank of knowledge and skills, and the evidence of these accumulated skills and knowledge can be used to help you gain a qualification.
A current Police Check and Working with Children Check are required before the commencement of practical placements for those specific courses which include a practical placement component, which includes the Diploma of Mental Health.
