Principal Studies are available in: Composition, Composition for Creative Industries, Contemporary Music Practice, Digital Music Composition, Historical Performance, Jazz Performance, Non-orchestral Instrument Performance, Orchestral Instrument Performance, and Voice (classical) performance.
The Diploma of Music is offered to certain candidates after applying and auditioning for a Bachelor course. You should read about the undergraduate pre-admission and audition requirements on the Conservatorium's website before applying. Yes, the Diploma of Music is a great pathway to the Sydney Conservatorium's internationally regarded Bachelor of Music degrees.
Students commencing in Semester 2 will be restricted to the following study areas: Orchestral performance, Non-orchestral performance (Classical piano; Collaborative piano; Classical guitar; Organ; Classical saxophone), Historical Performance, Non-western music, and Drum set.
In addition to weekly classes/lessons in your principal study area or program, you will complete three semesters of music skills, some analysis and music history studies as well as either performance, contemporary studies, digital and music technology skills or composition options depending on your specialisation.
