The Diploma of Music CUA50820 offers two distinct pathways: Music Performance and Music Production. The Music Performance focus is for those who see themselves on stage and explores live music and instrument mastery, including one-on-one lessons with experienced industry professionals. The Music Production focus immerses students in the technical aspects of music creation using Ableton as the primary instrument, covering composition, arranging, and sound design.
Not at all. If you have minimal or no experience with music theory, don't worry — the course will start from the basics to get you up to speed.
Yes, this course requires an audition or e-portfolio for entry. If your main focus is music performance, you need to book an audition. If your main focus is music production, you book an interview where you will be invited to share samples of your work, such as your beats, chord arrangements, or previous recordings. You can also submit an e-portfolio in lieu of attending in person.
On completion of the Diploma of Music CUA50820, you may continue your studies in the Advanced Diploma of Music CUA60520 (Performance), or work towards the Bachelor of Songwriting and Music Production at Melbourne Polytechnic.
Students have access to great studios and production suites, instruments, production gear and microphones, including on weekends. The course is delivered through performance venues, a studio, an electronic music lab, and skills development activities in simulated work environments. Melbourne Polytechnic also has a dedicated Wellbeing and Student Equity and Access Team to support every student's holistic well-being.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
