Students are required to complete a minimum of 400 hours of clinical work placement as part of the Diploma of Nursing, providing real-world experience in healthcare settings.
The course fee for international students ranges from $28,500 to $29,360 AUD. Additional costs for uniforms, equipment, textbooks and materials range from $300 to $1,000 AUD per course.
Upon graduating with this nationally accredited diploma, you become eligible to apply for registration as an enrolled nurse (not a registered nurse) through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). To pursue a Bachelor of Nursing, TAFE NSW graduates may articulate with credit transfer into the undergraduate pre-registration nursing degree program at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), which offers guaranteed entry and 48 credit points towards the Bachelor of Nursing.
Students who successfully complete the TAFE NSW Diploma of Nursing may articulate with credit transfer into undergraduate nursing programs at several universities, including the Bachelor of Nursing at Charles Sturt University (CSU), the University of Wollongong (UOW), and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). UTS offers guaranteed entry and 48 credit points (equivalent to one year of full-time study) credit transfer towards its Bachelor of Nursing.
TAFE NSW provides a range of support services including the TAFE NSW Disability Support Service, Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) support, Careers, Counselling and Pathways Service, Smarthinking (online tutor access), and LinkedIn Learning. Students also have access to teacher contact time via email, MS Teams calls, phone calls and allocated meeting times, as well as Teacher or Education Support Officer assistance.
