Diploma of Nursing

Gain the knowledge and skills to provide caring, compassionate and effective nursing care as an Enrolled Nurse working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This Diploma (HLT54121) integrates theory with practice across a range of health care settings, covering communication, cultural diversity, law and ethics, anatomy and physiology, and care for people with acute, chronic, mental health and palliative care needs, plus medication administration, wound management and infection control. Delivered over 21 months in a blended format, it's offered at campuses right across South Australia — including Adelaide City, Barossa Valley, Gilles Plains, Mount Barker, Mount Gambier, Noarlunga, Port Lincoln, Port Pirie and Whyalla — full-time or part-time depending on location. The qualification comprises 20 core units and 5 elective units, plus a minimum of 400 hours of supervised clinical placement organised by TAFE SA. Entry requires an LLN assessment, evidence of meeting the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's English language standards, and applicants must be at least 18 years old at enrolment. Domestic fees range from about $9,424 (Concession) to $34,049 (Full Fee) per semester. Graduates register as Enrolled Nurses with AHPRA and work across hospital, community, residential, mental health, rehabilitation, rural and remote settings. Guaranteed credit transfer is available into Bachelor of Nursing degrees. The course is also offered to international students, primarily at Adelaide City and Gilles Plains.
