Students will examine culture and diversity within local, national and global, Indigenous populations; impacts of specific policies and historical events on Indigenous Australians and their effects on health and health care access.
Integrated Systems, Anatomy & Physiology
An integrated approach to the study of body systems correlating structure and function of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary and reproductive systems together with their endocrine and neural control. Service Taught Unit.
Fundamentals of Nursing Practice
The unit builds on the foundations of clinical practice and continues to explore assessment and care of the stable person. Students apply nursing competency standards in selected clinical contexts. Service Taught Unit.
Evidence Informed Health Practice
The role of empirical evidence in making decisions in health practice. Introduction to different types of research methodologies; measurement; observation; data collection; research ethics; bio-statistical analysis.

No. This course is a pathway into Curtin University's Bachelor of Science (Advanced Nursing) and is not an Enrolled Nursing qualification.
Stage 1 intakes are in February and June. Stage 2 intake is in February only. Note that nursing will have a February only intake from 2024.
Yes. Some of the nursing Stage 2 units will start earlier than the normal semester dates, and students need to be available from the first week of January for clinical placements.
Service Taught Units are units where Curtin College students join Curtin University students in the same classroom. Such units are taught by university staff and Curtin College students will be enrolled as Curtin University students. Curtin University Policies and Processes will apply to these units.
Graduates can pursue careers as a Clinical Nurse, Mental Health Nurse, Aged Care Nurse, Healthcare Specialist, Community Nurse, or Defence Nurse, following completion of the pathway into Curtin University's Bachelor of Science (Advanced Nursing).
