Common Questions
To study nursing at TAFE Queensland, you must demonstrate English language skills that will enable you to practice your profession safely. There are two pathways: the Primary Language Pathway, where English is your primary language and you have completed at least six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English in a recognised country (with at least two years between grades 7 and 12); or the English Language Test Pathway, where you provide evidence of an approved test such as IELTS (academic module), Cambridge, TOEFL iBT Australia, PTE Academic or OET, achieving the minimum scores outlined in the NMBA's Registration Standard: English Language Skills March 2025.
The Diploma of Nursing has several fee options: a Concession fee (with fee concessions that may apply for eligible students), a Subsidised fee of $16,425 for eligible students accessing government-funded courses, a Full Fee of $26,475 (total course fee), and an International student fee of $32,400.

Successful completion of the Diploma of Nursing qualifies you to seek registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Upon successful registration, you may find work as an Enrolled Nurse within a diverse range of healthcare settings. The Graduate Outcomes Survey reports that four out of five nursing graduates gain employment within three months of graduation.
To successfully achieve the Diploma of Nursing qualification, you are required to successfully complete a minimum of 400 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting, in addition to completing all core and 5 elective units.
