You will complete a minimum of 400 hours of mandatory clinical placement in a range of healthcare settings across metropolitan, regional and rural areas. Practical Placement will be scheduled as soon as possible with an appropriate placement host; however, in the current environment this may take longer than normal and therefore expected completion dates for the course may need to be extended to take account of deferred placement.
The Annual Tuition Fee for international students is $20,320, the Annual Service Fee is $296, giving an Estimated Annual Fee of $20,616. Approximate additional costs include NDIS ($125), Police Check ($20 per calendar year), immunisation costs (up to $250 depending on required boosters), and scrubs ($80 for 1 top and 1 pants). Fees listed are at 2026 rates and may increase annually over the duration of delivery.
After successful completion, you may have the option of applying to universities and be granted up to 12 months credit towards most 3-year Bachelor of Nursing qualifications. Box Hill Institute has specific articulation arrangements with ACU and Deakin. All Box Hill Institute nursing graduates with HLT54121 will receive agreed credit of 80 credit points at ACU on confirmation of application, and ACU also guarantees a direct pathway for the top 20 students. Students who successfully complete this course will be eligible to apply for a maximum of 8 credit points into the Bachelor of Nursing at Deakin University, subject to meeting requirements for entry into their program.
International students must provide evidence of meeting at least one English language testing standard. For IELTS Academic, a minimum overall score of 7 is required in each of listening, reading and speaking, with a minimum score of 6.5 in writing. For PTE Academic, a minimum overall score of 66 is required in listening, reading and speaking, with a minimum score of 56 in writing. For OET, a minimum score of B is required in listening, reading and speaking, and a minimum score of C+ for writing. For TOEFL iBT, a minimum total score of 94 is required. For Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency, a minimum overall score of 185 in listening, reading and speaking, with a minimum of 176 in writing.
Prior to the first clinical placement, students must provide: a current clear Working with Children Check; a current clear National Police Record Check (Australia and one from your home country for international students); an up-to-date immunisation/vaccination record related to Health Care Worker Category A (including Diphtheria/Tetanus, Poliomyelitis, Measles/Mumps/Rubella, Varicella Zoster Virus, Hepatitis B, Mantoux Test, and Flu vaccine); and a complete COVID-19 vaccination history including boosters. Some clinical placement facilities may also request educational history and a drivers licence or passport.
