Diploma of Salon Management

This qualification reflects the role of senior managers and small business owners of personal services businesses. Salon managers are responsible for co-ordinating the day-to-day operation of the business, and for planning, monitoring and evaluating the work of their team, operating with significant autonomy to make strategic business management decisions.

The Diploma of Salon Management provides a pathway to work as a salon manager in any type of personal service business, including hairdressing or beauty salons, barber shops and spas.

Delivered on campus at The Centre of Excellence's Geelong and Melbourne campuses, the course runs for 50 study weeks plus 6 weeks of holidays (56 weeks total), covering 10 units of competency across core and elective streams. Students build management-level skills in workplace health and safety, sustainable workplace policy, leading personal services teams, recruitment and selection, human resource functions, managing treatment services and sales delivery, promoting a personal services business, small business planning and marketing, and managing people performance.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for skills and knowledge gained through previous study or relevant industry experience. There are no specific prerequisite requirements (NIL) for entry to this qualification.
