SHB50216 Diploma of Salon Management is designed for beauty-industry professionals ready to move into ownership and management roles, developing the business skills to run a salon or spa — financial management, staff recruitment and development, customer service and marketing. Delivered by Vigil International College at its Parramatta campus, the 52-week, full-time program (20 hours per week) combines classroom sessions, simulated salon practice and structured self-study, assessed through written questions, case studies, presentations, reports and observed role plays. Its 10 units of competency cover reviewing human resource functions, managing recruitment, selection and induction, developing sustainability policy and procedures, leading teams in a personal services environment, managing treatment services and sales delivery, promoting a personal services business, providing a safe work environment, managing people's performance, and planning and marketing small business finances. Entry requires students to be 18 or older with a current student visa; English-speaking-background applicants need Year 10 English or equivalent, while others must meet the college's IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) benchmark. Graduates can pursue roles such as salon or spa manager, beauty business owner, beauty consultant or beauty brand manager, with pathways into BSB80120 Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) or a Bachelor of Business / MBA.
