Common Questions
This program is delivered as a full-time course over a period of 2 years. The total volume of learning is between 1,200 and 2,400 hours as per the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), and includes classroom-based instruction, online learning, practical production workshops, project development, and industry or workplace-based practice where applicable.
Applicants are expected to have completed Year 12 (or equivalent), or demonstrate maturity and relevant life or work experience indicating capacity to undertake study at this level. It is also recommended that applicants have prior experience or foundational skills in screen and media, including the self-directed application of knowledge and creative skills, independent judgement and critical thinking, and technical and conceptual skills in media or related creative industries. Applicants may be required to undertake an interview or portfolio review.
The Diploma of Screen and Media offers specialisation opportunities in Animation, Gaming and Visual Effects; Make-Up Services; Directing; Radio and Podcasting; Journalism; Content Creation; Production Management; and Post-Production. All elective units chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
Graduates may progress to higher-level qualifications such as the CUA60620 Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media, a Graduate Certificate in Screen and Media, a Graduate Diploma of Screen and Media, or relevant Bachelor's degree programs in film, television, or digital media production. The qualification also provides a strong foundation for entry into a range of industry roles within film, television, online content creation, and digital media production.
For local students, the course is delivered through online lectures and live online sessions. For international students, the course is delivered through face-to-face lectures and live online sessions. The overall approach uses a mixed mode consisting of classroom-based training, online learning, and practical production/studio workshops.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
