On successful completion of the Diploma of Theatre Arts 22598VIC you will be suitably qualified to audition for stage and screen productions, and to enter job roles as theatre makers in small companies, or part of event management teams for venues and festivals. You will be a multi-skilled theatre worker capable of working in areas such as performance, play writing, devising work, or as part of a production team in set and prop making, stage and production management, including front of house management.

The Diploma of Theatre Arts 22598VIC is taught at Melbourne Polytechnic's Prahran campus, home to its lively creative arts community. Facilities include the David Williamson Theatre, a 120-seat performance space with industry standard lighting and sound systems, as well as rehearsal spaces and set and prop construction areas.
As part of your studies you will rehearse and create two industry level public performances in the David Williamson Theatre, giving you ongoing opportunities to increase confidence and presence as an actor.
The government subsidised tuition fee is $14,750, with a maximum annual amenities fee of $260, making the total payable $15,010. The non-subsidised tuition fee is $22,000 with the same amenities fee, totalling $22,260. For international students, the fee is $24,640 per year or $12,320 per semester. Student tuition fees are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment.
The Diploma of Theatre Arts 22598VIC can be a pathway to Bachelor Degrees at Deakin and Monash, and into other Diploma and Advanced Diploma studies in theatre, performance, live production, or related fields such as drama teaching and tourism. For further study options, you can discuss with Melbourne Polytechnic teaching staff.
The course uses a combination of observation, written assignments and project work, with small and large scale events based learning. It is designed to engage students in hands-on practical learning wherever possible, delivered both on campus and online. Employability skills including communication, teamwork, problem solving, initiative and enterprise, planning and organising, self-management, and learning and technology also form part of the assessment. Learning activities and assessments will involve working with students and staff from other Dramatic Arts courses.
