Diploma of Work Health and Safety

Domestic students

• Be at least 18 years old at the time of commencing the course.
• Have successfully completed Australian Year 12.
• Complete the Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy Skills (LLND) assessment and achieve a pass mark at Level 4.
• Have successfully completed all BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety core units or equivalent competencies (equivalent competencies are predecessor units mapped as equivalent).
• Be currently in a work health and safety related role for at least 6 months prior to commencing, and be able to complete workplace assessment with the current employer.
• Have successfully completed the Pre-Training Review.

International students

• Be at least 18 years old at the time of commencing the course.
• Have successfully completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent schooling overseas.
• Have successfully completed all BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety core units or equivalent competencies.
• Provide evidence of an English language test of IELTS (or equivalent) with a minimum overall score of 6.0, or fall into an exemption category recognised by the Department of Home Affairs.
• Pass the Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy Skills (LLND) assessment at Level 4.

The Pre-Training Review helps determine whether the course is suitable and identifies any support needs; the LLND assessment is completed through the College's Learning Management System.

The following are examples of roles this qualification may support you to pursue, depending on your experience and employment opportunities:

• Work Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor — support organisations in reviewing and improving workplace safety systems, contributing to risk management processes and advising on WHS practices.
• WHS Manager / Coordinator — contribute to the coordination and management of WHS systems, overseeing safety procedures, supporting audits and working with teams to maintain safe work practices.
• Risk and Compliance Officer — assist in identifying workplace risks and supporting compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies, monitoring systems and reviewing procedures.
• Safety Systems Coordinator — support the development, implementation and review of workplace health and safety systems, ensuring processes align with organisational and regulatory requirements.
• Senior WHS Officer — with relevant experience, support more complex safety activities including coordinating safety programs, contributing to investigations and assisting in the development of workplace procedures.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer are available.
