For 2026, eligible students may pay $0 tuition under Free TAFE. For Skills First subsidised students, tuition is $11,118.25 per year. Full fee (not subsidised) students pay $21,770. All students may also be charged a materials fee (maximum $10) and a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of up to $261 per year.
Yes, practical placement in a workplace is a requirement for this course. You will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice with the support of a qualified workplace supervisor. For placement purposes, all students require a valid Working with Children Check, a satisfactory Police Check (valid within 6 months of course commencement), and vaccination against COVID-19 (fully) may be required at some placement agencies.
Once you have completed this course, you will be guaranteed entry into the Bachelor of Community Development (48 credit points), Bachelor of Criminal Justice (96 credit points), Bachelor of Youth Work (96 credit points), Bachelor of Youth Work and Criminal Justice (96 credit points), and Bachelor of Youth Work/Bachelor of Sport Management (48 credit points) at Victoria University.
To be awarded the CHC50421 Diploma of Youth Work, 21 units must be completed consisting of 16 core units and 5 elective units. The elective units must include at least 1 unit from Group A, plus at least 2 units from Group A or Group B, and up to 2 units from the electives listed, or any endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
The course is available on campus at both the Melbourne Footscray Nicholson Campus and the Melbourne Werribee Campus, with a course start date of 13 July 2026 and applications closing on 20 July 2026. Note that location availability will depend on student demand, and your location preference and availability will be discussed during your pre-training review interview.
