Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Special Needs Dentistry)

Yes, the course includes a research component in each semester. The capstone experience requires you to complete a thesis, and the research project is undertaken throughout the entire course. The capstone experience is designed to provide students with an opportunity to draw together the learning that has taken place during the award, synthesise this with their prior learning and experience, and draw conclusions that will form the basis for further investigation, intellectual and/or professional growth.

This course has a mandatory professional practice work component where, subject to contract with the Local Health District (LHD), you may be paid for some clinical sessions (conditions apply), once enrolled in the course.

Applications open on 1 September, 2 years prior to the commencement year, and close on 30 June 2026 for the 2027 intake. Separate deadlines apply for scholarships.

For tests taken on or after 23 April 2026, you must achieve at least: IELTS Academic with a minimum overall score of 7 and a minimum of 7 in each component; OR PTE Academic with a minimum overall score of 72 and minimum scores of 72 for listening, 72 for reading, 72 for writing, and 76 for speaking; OR TOEFL iBT with a minimum total score of 96 and minimum scores of 23 for listening, 23 for reading, 25 for writing, and 24 for speaking. Tests must be completed within two years of your course commencement date.
