Common Questions
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) consists of 2 years (6 semesters) and is the postgraduate component of the Medical Program. However, students must first complete the Bachelor of Medical Studies (2 years 8 months / 8 semesters), making the total Medical Program 4 years and 8 months — the shortest pathway to becoming a doctor in Australia, made possible through Bond's three-semester-per-year accelerated timetable.
In the fourth year of the medical program (first year of the MD), students undertake core clinical rotations in a range of specialty areas and may commence a research or professional project. In the final year, students undertake further rotations in specialty areas that complement those undertaken in fourth year, and complete a selective and elective placement. Students also complete a research or professional project or a clinical capstone experience and present their findings at the end-of-year student conference. Clinical placements are in diverse public, private and community healthcare settings, with extended exposure to areas such as child health, medicine, mental health, surgery, and women's health.
Yes. Graduates from the Bond MD program are eligible for provisional medical registration so they can undertake a period of accredited intern training to become eligible for general registration as a medical practitioner in any state or territory in Australia or New Zealand. The program is accredited by the Australian Medical Council.
The program is not available to international students who intend to apply for a student visa to undertake this program. Direct entry into the Bond Medical Program is currently only open to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, holders of an Australian Humanitarian visa and New Zealand citizens (not New Zealand permanent residents). Pathways available to international students include successful completion of the Bond Bachelor of Biomedical Science (in the pre-health professional major), Master of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physiotherapy, Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice, or Master of Healthcare Innovations. Upon completion and meeting the minimum required GPA and pre-requisites, students will be eligible to be considered for selection to enter Year 2 of the Bond Medical Program. Additionally, international/overseas students at the time of enrolment may not be automatically entitled to registration, internship and access to a provider number in Australia.
Bond University places high value on student wellbeing, recognising that emotional, mental and physical health are essential to success. Students have access to free, confidential and personalised support services, including a dedicated clinical psychologist. All staff are committed to supporting students to reach their full potential. Students also benefit from personalised learning with medical leaders, award-winning academics, and practising health professionals, as well as Australia's lowest student-to-teacher ratio of 11:1.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
