Yes. All applicants for research degrees must submit a research proposal summarising the project they would like to pursue. The proposal should be 3-4 pages in length and include an introduction, literature review, research design/methodology, expected outcomes, and references. UOW strongly recommends that applicants discuss their research proposal with their potential research supervisor before finalising their HDR application. The research proposal must be written in the applicant's own words and all submissions may be checked for plagiarised material.
Yes. The Doctor of Philosophy is available as either full-time (4 years) or part-time equivalent, and can be studied on campus or by distance. As a full-time student, you can expect to commit around 35 hours of study per week, including class time and independent study.
All UOW courses are taught in English and require varying levels of proficiency. If English is not your first language, you must meet the University's English Language Requirements, which differ by course. Accepted international test results include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge, and OET for specific health-related courses. Alternatively, you can fulfil the requirement by completing an English course at UOW College.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
