Common Questions
Bond University operates a team approach to supervision, with each PhD candidate supported by a Principal Supervisor and Associate Supervisors who offer expertise in a specific aspect of your project. It is not unusual for supervisors and candidates to be co-authors in publications resulting from the student's dissertation.
PhD candidates receive administrative support and access to training through Bond's dedicated HDR Unit, as well as funding for expenses related to conference presentations and project costs. Each faculty also provides candidates with their own assigned workspace with lockable storage and technical computing support, in addition to access to all support services and world-class facilities available to Bond students.
The PhD program places a major emphasis on independent inquiry, a thorough understanding of domain-specific knowledge, competence in research methodologies, and the ability to communicate research results. At the end of your first year (or one third of candidature), a full proposal including an oral presentation and detailed confirmation document must be presented before a Confirmation Panel, followed by bi-annual progress reviews. The degree culminates in a dissertation of up to 80,000–100,000 words, or the equivalent weight of creative work and exegesis for a creative arts project.
The Doctor of Philosophy is offered across a wide range of study areas including Actuarial Science and Data Analytics, Architecture, Business, Commerce and Entrepreneurship, Communication, Film and Creative Media, Construction, Property and Planning, Health, Biomedical and Sport Sciences, International Relations, Politics and Arts, Law, Medicine, Project Management and Innovation, and Psychology, Criminology and Social Sciences.
Yes, PhD candidates may have the opportunity to take on part-time teaching and tutorial roles to help support their HDR study. Additionally, Bond places a strong emphasis on communication and connections between the research community and industry leaders, facilitating networking through on-campus events, conference attendance, professional workshops, and involvement in industry projects.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
