Applicants are required to demonstrate a capacity to carry out independent research and have adequate training and ability to pursue the proposed research course. Generally, this may be a master degree or bachelor degree with first or upper second class honours. For detailed information, refer to Section 3.2.1 of the HDR admission policy.
The course normally requires a minimum enrolment period of two years and a maximum of four years equivalent full-time study. Students may enrol either full-time or part-time. Part-time students intending to undertake research studies should contact the Director of Graduate Research, Curtin Medical School.
Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens who are successful applicants of a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program are eligible for a tuition fee exemption under the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP): up to four years of full-time equivalent study for Doctoral or PhD programs.
Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. For this course, applicants must achieve a minimum IELTS Academic overall band score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.5 in each of the four components: Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening.
Graduates will demonstrate expert understanding of theoretical knowledge, think critically and evaluate existing knowledge, apply expert creative and professional skills, present a complex investigation of originality for external examination against international standards, communicate complex research concepts to peers and the broader community, and design and implement research that makes a significant and original contribution to knowledge and/or professional practice.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
