The main part of your work will be in the form of a thesis written under the guidance of a supervisor and associate supervisor(s). Your thesis must be a substantial original contribution to the knowledge or understanding of any field and must demonstrate your capacity to conceive, design and complete independent research, presented for external examination against international standards.
Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens who are successful applicants of a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program are eligible for a tuition fee exemption under the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP), covering up to four years of full-time equivalent study for Doctoral or PhD programs.
Throughout your studies, Curtin's faculties will provide you with access to equipment and resources to support your research, and financial assistance to attend appropriate local and international conferences.
Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. For this course, the IELTS Academic requirements are: Writing 7.0, Speaking 6.0, Reading 7.0, Listening 6.5, and an Overall band score of 6.5. Proficiency may also be demonstrated using other approved tests and qualifications.
You will learn to demonstrate expert understanding of theoretical knowledge and reflect critically on that knowledge and practice; think critically, evaluate existing knowledge and ideas, undertake systematic investigation; apply expert creative, technical and professional skills; explain and critique theoretical propositions, methodologies and conclusions; present a complex investigation of originality for external examination against international standards; communicate complex research concepts to the general community and international research community; and design, implement, analyse, theorise and communicate research that makes a significant and original contribution to knowledge and/or professional practice.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
