Doctor of Philosophy (Humanities) Research

The main focus is on original research that uncovers new knowledge either by the discovery of new facts, the formulation of theories, or the innovative reinterpretation of known data and established ideas. At least two-thirds of the study program must involve research, with the main output being a thesis written under the guidance of a supervisor and associate supervisor(s).

Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens who are successful applicants of a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program are eligible for a tuition fee exemption under the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP): up to four years of full-time equivalent study for Doctoral or PhD programs.

Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. For the IELTS Academic test, the requirements are: Writing 7.0, Speaking 6.0, Reading 7.0, Listening 6.5, and an Overall band score of 6.5.
