Applications are open all year round. The PhD program has three research period start dates: Research Period 2 (1 March), Research Period 3 (1 July), and Research Period 4 (1 October). It is recommended to apply well in advance of your intended start date to allow for timely processing.
Full-time PhD students are expected to submit their thesis for examination in 3.5 years. Part-time students are expected to submit their thesis for examination in 7 years.

You can search the University's database of Medicine and Health researchers using the 'Find an Academic' tool. When contacting a potential supervisor, you should provide your academic and educational background, research experience (e.g. an academic transcript), your CV/resume, your area of interest, and an explanation of why your research topics align with that supervisor's work.
Scholarships are available, including RTP and UsydIS scholarships for international students (which do not require a separate application). For all other scholarships, a separate scholarship application must be completed. Separate deadlines apply for scholarship applications, and meeting minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission or a scholarship.
