Yes, students are required to complete two compulsory research-support coursework units: LAWS6077 Legal Research 1 within the first 12 months of their candidature, and LAWS7001 Legal Research 2 within the first 24 months. There is no separate tuition fee cost for these units; they are included in the tuition fee for the course.
The course commences on 1 March and 1 July each year. For a 1 March start, the formal application closing date is 15 September. For a 1 July start, the formal application closing date is 15 March. An optional Expression of Interest should be submitted by 30 June (for 1 March commencement) or 31 December (for 1 July commencement).

To be considered for an Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship, you must submit both your Doctor of Philosophy (Law) application and your scholarship application by the relevant RTP scholarship closing date.
