Full-time PhD students are expected to submit their thesis for examination in 3.5 years, while part-time students are expected to submit their thesis for examination in 7 years.
Applications are open all year round, with three possible start dates: Research Period 2 starting 1 March, Research Period 3 starting 1 July, and Research Period 4 starting 1 October. You are advised to apply well in advance of your intended start date.
You can search the University's database of Medicine and Health researchers at Find an Academic to find a supervisor whose academic background aligns with your research. When contacting a potential supervisor, you will need to provide your academic/educational background and research experience, your CV/resume, your area of interest, and why you believe your research topics align with that supervisor.
Yes, this course is available as a joint degree via a small number of domestic and international partner institutions. For more information on the Joint PhD program, you can contact joint-degrees.sfs@sydney.edu.au.
Yes, except for RTP and UsydIS scholarships for international students, you must complete a separate scholarship application. Separate deadlines apply for scholarships, and you should view the scholarship closing dates on the University's website.
