Required in semester 1 for candidates without an appropriate research methodology background.
Composition
Folio (90-120 minutes of music, weighted 70%) plus a 20,000-25,000 word dissertation (weighted 30%).
Interactive Composition
Folio (90-120 minutes of music/sound with other media, weighted 70%) plus a 20,000-25,000 word dissertation (weighted 30%).
Jazz & Improvisation
40,000-50,000 word dissertation (50%) plus a folio of creative work (50%), examined by external (usually international) examiners.
Music Performance
20,000-25,000 word dissertation (25%) plus a performance folio equivalent to 3 full recitals / 210 minutes (75%), created during candidature.
