Common Questions
The degree is primarily research-based, with at least two-thirds of the study program involving research. The main component is a thesis written under the guidance of a supervisor and associate supervisor(s), though some coursework units may also be required. The thesis must represent a substantial original contribution to knowledge.
Admission to the doctoral degree is for a minimum period of two years and a maximum period of four years of equivalent full-time study. It is available both full-time and part-time.
Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens who are successful applicants of a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program are eligible for a tuition fee exemption under the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP) for up to four years of full-time equivalent study for Doctoral or PhD programs.
Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. For this course, the IELTS Academic requirement is an overall band score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.5 in each of the four components: Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening.
You will learn to demonstrate mastery of theoretical knowledge and reflect critically on its application, investigate and synthesise complex information, generate and evaluate complex ideas, design and evaluate research methods, communicate research to peers and the broader community, and disseminate research that makes an original and substantial contribution to knowledge.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
