Common Questions
Yes, a full scholarship is required to undertake this program. Applicants should familiarise themselves with the key scholarship dates, as deadlines are strict and the application must be submitted by the release round deadline for Term 1 commencement.
Applicants must first establish supervision within the School by contacting academics whose research interests coincide with their own. They must then submit a research application for the PhD/Master of Psychology through Apply Online AND a coursework application for the Master of Psychology through Apply Online (a total of two applications). Additional requirements include a PDF copy of the completed Supplementary Application Form, evidence of enrolment in or completion of a four-year APAC-accredited sequence in psychology, and (for international applicants) a copy of an APS assessment letter. Two completed references must also be shared via the Psychology Reference Portal.
As the number of places available each year is limited, entry into this program is competitive. Selection is based on the availability of supervision, academic qualifications, two referee reports and performance at an interview. Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in an interview — remote participation may be permitted in limited circumstances.
The program is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as a fifth and sixth year of study. Graduates are eligible to apply for full membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA). Graduates are also eligible for Associate Membership of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists, and after completing a further two years of full-time equivalent supervised practice in a Psychology Board of Australia approved Clinical Psychology registrar program, they may apply for APS College of Clinical Psychology Fellowship and endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.
Term 1 is the only available intake for this program. Applications with a complete set of supporting documentation must be submitted by 31 October or the application will be deemed unsuccessful. After 31 October, each Selection Committee will commence shortlisting, and interviews are typically held in late November or early December. The bulk of formal outcomes are typically sent between late November and January of the following year.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
