English for Academic Purposes

To enrol, you need successful completion of General English (Upper Intermediate Level), an Academic IELTS score of 5.0, or satisfactory results in a TAFE Queensland ELICOS Placement Test.

The total course fee for international students is $5,400. Additionally, a one-off application fee of $150 applies, and material fees are charged at $150 per 12 weeks of classes (e.g. $150 for 1–12 weeks, $300 for 13–24 weeks, up to $750 for 49–60 weeks).

The course is available at two campuses: South Bank in Greater Brisbane and Southport on the Gold Coast. It is delivered entirely on campus (100% face-to-face, 0% online), with teacher-led scheduled classes. Students may also access learning materials through TAFE Queensland's online learning management system, Connect.

Successful completion of 12 weeks of this course provides entry to Level 2 Academic English courses with an IELTS 5.5 equivalency. Level 2 Academic English courses include IELTS Preparation (Level 2) and Cambridge CAE, enabling you to continue progressing your English language study or entry into further TAFE Queensland courses.

International students can pay via telegraphic transfer or credit card using Convera Global Pay for Students or the Flywire Payment Portal. Both Convera and Flywire allow payment in your own currency using a telegraphic transfer with no processing fees or delays. A payment plan may also be available for those who have difficulty paying the full cost upfront.
