Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Either completed Upper Intermediate in the General English course, or be able to otherwise prove a B2 proficiency in English.
If students have not completed Upper Intermediate, they can present a recognised test score to gain direct entry to a course.
If they have a B1 level equivalent in a well-recognised English test, including IELTS, PTE Academic, TOEFL, or Cambridge, they will also be able to enter the course.
Students can enter in either Week 1 or Week 6 of the cycle.
The minimum enrolment period is five weeks.

The Enrolment Fee is $250 (non-refundable). Tuition fees are listed in ALTEC College's latest Fee Schedule. Total fees typically include both tuition and non-tuition fees, and all applicable fees will be advised in writing and agreed to prior to enrolment.

How are students assessed in the EAP course?

Summative assessments are completed in Weeks 5 and 10. Students have the best chance of achieving the learning outcomes tested in the Summative assessments if they enter in Week 1 and Week 6.

What are the learning outcomes of the EAP course?

The Learning Outcomes are based on the key areas of competency: speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. Academic skills are embedded into each of these categories — for example, aspects of academic essay writing are incorporated into the learning outcomes relating to 'writing'. These outcomes are coded as F for EAP Foundation and A for EAP Advanced.

Can students take a study break during the EAP course?

Students that enrol in 10 weeks of the course are eligible to take a maximum of two weeks study break. There is also a 2-week mandatory holiday period over the Christmas/New Year period.
