The EAP course is designed to prepare students for study in any English-speaking institution where academic literacy in English is required, such as a university or VET College. It is suitable for students aiming for an IELTS Band score equivalent of 5.5 as well as those who need to achieve a Band 6–6.5+.
Students who wish to use an EAP certificate to articulate to one of the partner institutions will need to complete the full 12-week course and pass all assessments, but students who want to study academic English for a shorter period are also welcome to become aware of the differences between using English in everyday social situations and interacting professionally in more formal situations.
Students will develop academic skills including essay writing, researching, note taking and referencing; build a comprehensive understanding of how academic texts are structured; learn how to use complex sentences, nominalization and other techniques to write in a formal register; develop individual and group presentation skills and overall communicative confidence; complete academic tasks and assignments expected at vocational and tertiary level; and complete test training utilizing a wide range of strategies to tackle different task types.
You need to be ready for Upper Intermediate level to join the class.
Yes, the language skills and study techniques you learn in EAP will also help in the preparation for international English proficiency examinations, such as IELTS or PTE, because EAP focuses on improving your ability to cognitively engage with what you hear or read and on building critical thinking skills.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
