About This Course

English for Business at Hawthorn-Melbourne is a three-level course for international students who want to build professional English for work, further study or business communication. The three levels — EB1, EB2 and EB3 — each run for 10 weeks, for a combined 30-week program, and are aimed at students already at an Upper Intermediate to Advanced level (CEFR B2 to C1).

EB1 introduces core business topics along with CV and job application letter writing. EB2 builds on this with company visits, job interview practice and professional presentations. EB3 is project-based, with students completing three major projects covering the stock market, a scope project and an individual project of their choosing.

Across all three levels, students build business reading (interpreting business texts and note-taking), writing (letters, emails and reports), listening (discussions and presentations) and speaking (formal presentations in weeks 5 and 8/9 of each level). Classes run Monday to Friday, 20 hours a week, in the morning session (8:20am–12:40pm).

Students are assessed through mid-course and end-of-course tests covering all four skills, with ongoing feedback throughout each level. This course runs subject to sufficient student numbers at the required level. The course is delivered face-to-face at Level 1, 333 Exhibition Street, Melbourne.
