Common Questions
Successful completion of the ELBP allows eligible students to progress directly into their University of Newcastle or CIE program, subject to meeting all other admission requirements.
The ELBP is delivered face to face at the Callaghan Campus, located on Level 3 of the Beryl Nasher Building (GP), with multiple intakes throughout the year. From 2026, the ELBP is delivered through the University of Newcastle College of International Education (CIE), and the program continues to be delivered at the Callaghan campus.
The program focuses on developing the academic language skills required for university study, including academic reading and writing, listening and note-taking skills, academic speaking and presentations, critical thinking and participation in tutorials, and understanding academic culture and expectations.
Students enrolled in all programs with the English Language Centre have access to the Student Experience Program (SEP), which includes volunteering and work experience opportunities, excursions, and a range of dynamic and engaging activities including Speed Conversations, Cooking on Campus, and World Sports Day.
Students have access to modern classrooms designed to facilitate a student-centred and blended approach to learning, campus-wide WIFI, free access to a range of student systems and software, and access to the University library, including dedicated resources and experienced staff committed to increasing the digital literacy of international students.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
