General English
General English (G3, G4 and G5) builds basic language skills, either as a stand-alone program or as preparation for an Academic English program. 5–25 weeks.
Academic English
Academic English (A1, A2, A3 and A4) builds the language skills required in university study. 5–20 weeks.
Direct Entry
Direct entry programs prepare you to move straight into a Macquarie University degree or pathway program. Usually 10 weeks.

Depending on your English language level and your future studies, you may be required to complete up to 50 weeks of English. The specific program and duration will depend on your current English skills and your study goals.

Yes. Macquarie University College is accredited by the Australian government, is an active member of English Australia and University English Centres Australia (UECA), and has a quality endorsement from the National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS). The college has also won many national industry awards, including the IELTS/English Australia Award for Academic Leadership 2024 and the Christine Bundesen AM Language Teaching Organisation – Management Grant 2025.
Students have access to the dedicated Learning Hub, which is generally open from 10.00am–4.00pm Monday to Friday, where you can use online resources and books, do homework or research a class project. The college also delivers about 200 free workshops and study groups each year covering speaking, writing, academic skills, grammar and pronunciation. Additionally, a range of free or low-cost social activities are organised to help you practise English and make friends.
The program can prepare you to move into a Macquarie Foundation program (pathway to a bachelor degree), a Diploma program (pathway to a bachelor degree), a Masters Qualifying Program (pathway to a postgraduate degree), or directly into a Macquarie University undergraduate or postgraduate degree. You can also study to improve your English skills with no further university study.
