The General English course offers four levels: Elementary (basic vocabulary, simple verb tenses, common phrases, conversational techniques, pronunciation tips, the phonetic and English alphabet); Pre-Intermediate (builds on Elementary with more complex tenses, modals and conditionals, how to agree/disagree and express opinions, and storytelling skills); Intermediate (focuses on joining tenses, formal structures including all conditionals and passive voice, idioms, phrasal verbs, and colloquialisms); and Upper-Intermediate (introduces more advanced grammatical knowledge, increases personal vocabulary, encourages autonomous learning, and improves pronunciation accuracy and confidence).
Students appear for a placement test and oracy test to check their proficiency level in English and are placed in class-batches as per their proficiency levels. Additionally, students are given progress tests every 5th week, and passing the exam promotes them to the higher level.
Students practice four core skills: Listening (listening to English from native speakers via their teacher and other media, as well as from peers); Speaking (daily opportunities to practice speaking in structured conversations with peers and presenting projects to the class); Reading (reading a variety of modified texts including short stories, poetry, and expository writing, with guidance from teachers and peers); and Writing (writing daily, practicing grammar structures and new vocabulary, and producing personal narratives, descriptions, reports, poems, reflections, and creative fiction).
The classroom activities include watching videos, listening to audios, playing language games, and interactive activities like role plays and word charades. Students also engage in structured conversations with peers and present projects to the class using newly acquired English skills.
The General English course is designed for adult learners from diverse language backgrounds who have limited exposure to English conversations. It aims to help them participate in the Australian community, progress in their job, or do further study.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
