No, the program is designed for graduates and professionals both within and outside of the animation and visual effects industry. Admission requires a Bachelor's degree in any field. Applicants without a Bachelor's degree or with one completed more than 10 years ago may be admitted on a case-by-case basis by the Program Director, based on professional experience.
The program comprises two core contextual courses — Digital aesthetics and Communication skills — which build capabilities in teamwork, communication, research, leadership, and screen aesthetics. You will also choose two prescribed elective courses from a range of studio-based options including Animating movement, storyboarding and pre-visualisation; 3D visualisation and modelling; VFX compositing, matte painting and camera tracking; Motion capture; Rigging; Creature and character design; Procedural FX; Real-time and virtual production; Digital cinematography; and more.
For domestic students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee and the indicative full fee to complete the degree are both $19,500. For international students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $24,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $25,000. Fees are subject to annual review and may vary accordingly.
