The course covers a solid foundation of AI technologies and skills including modern programming skills, data mining, data analytics, neural networks, deep learning, and natural language processing. Students complete four core units: Advanced Object Oriented Programming, Applied Natural Language Processing, Neural Network and Deep Learning, and Data Warehousing and Mining.
For eligible students, the course is available as a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) with indicative fees of AU$4,769 per semester for a full-time student in 2026. This fee is a guide only and does not include materials such as textbooks or the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). Students who are not eligible for a CSP will pay the full cost of each unit, and HELP loans may be available.

As a VU student, you will have the opportunity to study certification courses taught by experienced lecturers and research academics within the IT discipline, with discounted certification examination fees.
Upon completion, you will be able to critically review AI applications and state-of-the-art developments, disaggregate and appraise key components in typical AI application architectures, design and implement AI applications in a systematic approach, and extrapolate knowledge and skills of AI to support or provide planetary health solutions.
The course is delivered on campus at Victoria University's Melbourne City Campus. In 2026, there are two intake dates: 27 July 2026 (applications close 19 July 2026) and 28 September 2026 (applications close 20 September 2026).
