Yes. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Design, you may transfer to the Graduate Diploma. On successful completion of the Graduate Diploma, you may then enrol in the Master of Design.

Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. For this course, the IELTS Academic requirements are: Writing 6, Speaking 6, Reading 6, Listening 6, and an Overall band score of 6.5. Proficiency may also be demonstrated using other accepted tests and qualifications.

The domestic fee-paying postgraduate fee for 2026 is $11,742, based on a first-year full-time study load of 100 credits. Fees are indicative only and the total cost will depend on your course options, including units selected and time taken to complete. Domestic fee-paying students may be eligible for FEE-HELP assistance.

Applicants are required to have either work experience in Design or cognate areas, or a Bachelor degree in Design or cognate areas. Applicants with work experience or a Bachelor degree in non-cognate areas, or other pathways, should contact the course Coordinator directly.

You will develop a foundational knowledge of your field of design practice, apply specialised knowledge and frameworks relevant to design leadership, demonstrate critical reflection on design theory and history, professionally communicate design concepts and proposals, understand the global context of contemporary design practice, apply emerging technologies to design practice, and understand the value of design to communities, enterprises and the public.
