Graduate Certificate in Curatorial and Museum Studies

The Graduate Certificate in Curatorial and Museum Studies develops expertise in collection management and exhibition design, and forms the foundation for a career in the global cultural and heritage sectors.
Over six months of part-time study you work across a range of topics in the arts and humanities, exploring how cultural institutions curate and exhibit collections. You focus on the life of objects as they travel around the world through cultural institutions, and unravel the complex history of object acquisition.
The certificate explores Aboriginal perspectives on cultural preservation and representation in museums, and unpacks the complex issues surrounding the ownership of cultural artefacts. Emerging technologies in digital literacy and creative innovation are also covered.
It forms part of the only specialist degree suite of its kind in South Australia and is delivered in cooperation with the South Australian Museum and other leading cultural organisations, giving access to Adelaide's cultural institutions.
The program is 24 units — 12 units of core courses and 12 units of electives — taken part time only over half a year at the Adelaide City Campus, with February and July intakes.
