Graduate Certificate in Development Planning

Yes, the course is suitable if you do not have a background in planning, or if you are a practising planner outside of Australia. You will be introduced to the principles, practices and techniques used by urban and regional planners.

Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Development Planning, you may be eligible for entry into the Master of Urban and Regional Planning.

The 2026 domestic fee-paying postgraduate tuition fee is $15,016, based on a first-year full-time study load of 100 credits. The total cost will depend on your course options (i.e. units selected and time taken to complete). Domestic fee paying students may be eligible for FEE-HELP assistance.

This fee-paying course is one semester full-time study, which equates to 6 months full-time. Part-time study is also available, though most units are timetabled during the day and students will need to make arrangements to attend daytime classes.

Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. For the Graduate Certificate in Development Planning, the IELTS Academic requirements are: Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0, Reading 6.0, Listening 6.0, and an Overall band score of 6.5. You may also demonstrate English proficiency using other approved tests and qualifications.
