The program offers seven areas of specialisation: Curriculum and Assessment, Educational Psychology, Educational Research, Educational Studies, Education Systems, Gifted Education, Special and Inclusive Education, and TESOL.
Yes, the Graduate Certificate in Education can be undertaken as a fully online program, although some specialisations such as TESOL and Special Education may contain face-to-face Work Integrated Learning components.
For 2026, the indicative Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) first year fee is $2,500, and the indicative CSP fee to complete the degree is also $2,500. For full-fee domestic students, the indicative first year fee is $16,500 and the fee to complete the degree is $16,500. For international students, the indicative first year full fee is $23,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $24,000. All fees are subject to annual review.
Yes, for the Educational Research specialisation, applicants must have achieved at least a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 75 (or equivalent) in their most recently completed degree, successfully perform in an interview about their interest in research, and have availability of a suitable supervisor. Applicants must also send a completed Expression of Interest form to the EDST5889 Convenor at jae.jung@unsw.edu.au for approval before submitting their online application.
The program is suitable for teachers, trainers in industry and commerce, adult educators and other professionals. Entry may also be granted to those with a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a related field plus one year of relevant professional experience and development. However, the program does not provide a qualification in pre-service education.
