Graduate Certificate in Education

The Graduate Certificate in Education is for education professionals wanting to upskill for specialist and leadership roles in educational settings. It also prepares you for higher education teaching, or to transition into research.
The program is deliberately flexible: you choose four postgraduate courses aligned to your interests and career goals, exploring topics such as digital learning, neuroscience and education, and wellbeing and inclusion. Alternatively you can specialise by selecting all four courses from one of ten focus areas, which include The Brain and Learning — how the brain learns, remembers and retains information to support equity and excellence for all students — and Catholic Education, covering Catholic education practices, principles and policies.
Across the certificate you gain an understanding of how different structures, social factors and cultural elements in educational environments affect how students learn, and analyse trends, theories and concepts in contemporary education.
The university frames the qualification around the challenges facing contemporary education: creating inclusive environments, enhancing student wellbeing, personalising approaches to learning, integrating diverse perspectives into the curriculum, and supporting colleagues to use new technologies safely.
Study is flexible and available part time so it fits around work, can be applied directly in your workplace, and meets professional development requirements. All four courses carry full credit towards the Master of Education.
The program is 24 units of specialisation selectives, taken over half a year. It is offered on campus at Adelaide City, Mawson Lakes, Magill, Mt Gambier and Whyalla, or online, with February and July intakes.
