Common Questions
UTS evaluates your previous study and/or work experience to determine if it is equivalent to a UTS subject, as per the Admissions and Recognition of Prior Learning Policy and Procedures. The assessment considers the currency of knowledge, relevance of your previous learning, learning outcomes, volume of learning, content of study, and learning and assessment approaches.
Domestic applicants should submit their RPL application after receiving a course offer and before their initial enrolment. For late UAC offers, you should submit your application at enrolment or as soon as possible, but no later than one week after the start of the teaching session.
RPL may be granted as either specified credit (subject exemption), where prior learning is equivalent to a specific UTS subject, or unspecified credit (unspecified elective/general advanced standing), where prior learning counts towards an elective component but isn't equivalent to a specific UTS subject. Alternatively, subject substitution might be offered, where an alternative subject of equivalent credit point value is added to your study plan.
You will be notified of your RPL outcome via your UTS webmail account within four to six weeks of application submission. All RPL decisions are final as per the Admissions and RPL Policy, though if dissatisfied, you can submit a complaint to the Student Complaints Resolution Office or seek review from the Student Ombudsman.
You need to provide certified official academic records, qualifications, and supporting evidence such as subject outlines, comparison tables, or portfolios. Official academic records must be certified and sighted as true copies by authorised offices such as the UTS Student Centre, a Justice of the Peace, or an Australian Overseas Diplomatic Mission. Non-English documents must be officially translated and submitted with certified copies.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
