Students can choose from three specialisations: Civil, mining, and environmental engineering; Electrical, computer, and telecommunications; and Mechanical, materials, and mechatronic. You will study engineering research methods and then choose three technical subjects within your chosen specialisation.
Yes. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Engineering, you may seek to continue your studies in the Master of Engineering, which is professionally accredited by Engineers Australia.
The indicative full-fee paying course fee is $18,327 for 2026. However, in 2026, domestic students may be eligible for either a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) or a UOW-subsidised fee reduction of up to 75% off the listed fees.
Applicants need at least a recognised three-year Bachelor of Engineering degree with an equivalent average mark of 60%, or a four-year Bachelor of Engineering degree with an equivalent average mark of 50%. Admission is primarily based on academic qualifications.
For Autumn Session 2026, the application deadline is 9 December 2025 for international students and 31 December 2025 for domestic (direct) applicants. For Spring Session 2026, the deadline is 5 May 2026 for international students and 31 May 2026 for domestic (direct) applicants.
