Graduate Certificate in Health Support (exit only)

This is an early exit program only. Applicants apply to Master of Nursing Practice (Preregistration) and exit with the Graduate Certificate in Health Support award. Offered as a Grad Certificate/Grad Diploma qualification of 40 credit points, it is normally completed in 0.5 years full-time and 1 year part-time. Students do not apply for this award directly: admission is to the parent program, and the qualification is conferred on those who leave that program early having completed the required credit points. It is administered within Western Sydney University's Nursing and Midwifery academic area. Subjects include Foundations of Nursing Practice, Evidence Based Health Care, Nursing Practice 2, Pharmacology Knowledge for Nursing Practice and Mental Health Nursing Practice. Graduates are expected to be able to contemplate on lifelong learning on one’s own practice and professional development needs in order to adapt to change; demonstrate accountability for actions to ensure safe and responsible nursing practice within relevant legal, ethical, and professional frameworks; appraise the principles of person-centred care with reference to respect, emotional support, physical comfort, care coordination and access to care; and recapitulate sociocultural factors that contribute to individual and community health.
