About This Course

The Curtin Graduate Certificate in Business will provide you with a solid foundation in economics, financial decision making, leadership and organisational behaviour. This course is relevant for managers at all levels (emerging through to middle/senior levels) who want to formalise their business knowledge and may not have a university qualification, or who have an undergraduate degree in a non-business area. After completing the four units of the graduate certificate you may choose to exit or pause your business studies or complete the additional eight units required to gain your Master of Business Administration (MBA).

General Requirements

There are two pathways into the Graduate Certificate in Business — one for applicants with an undergraduate degree and one for those without an undergraduate degree.
Applicants with an undergraduate degree will be required to demonstrate two (2) years of relevant work experience.
Applicants without an undergraduate degree will have three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience and will be asked to meet the English language proficiency requirements for this course.
English language requirements: IELTS Academic — Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0, Reading 6.0, Listening 6.0, Overall band score 6.5.
The personal statement written and provided by applicants will be used as an assessment to meet the English language requirement for the course.
Documents to submit: CV/resume highlighting prior work experience and roles; Employer Recommendation Form; Referee Report.
Strongly recommended: Two Referee recommendations; Personal Statement.
Entry into this program is via competitive entry and applicants may be required to attend an interview.
There are a limited number of places available and these are allocated to the highest ranked applicants for each round of offers.

Can I use this Graduate Certificate as a pathway to a Curtin MBA?

Yes. After completing the four units of the Graduate Certificate in Business, you need only complete a further eight units to achieve a Curtin Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Do I need a university degree to apply for this course?

No. Applicants without an undergraduate degree can still apply provided they have three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience and meet the English language proficiency requirements for the course.

How long does the Graduate Certificate in Business take to complete?

The course can be completed in approximately 6 months full-time, or equivalent part-time, across two trimesters.

Where is the face-to-face study delivered?

Face-to-face study is at Curtin's Graduate School of Business, in the heart of the Perth CBD. Students can study on-campus (evenings or block teaching), online, or a mix of both. Note that international students on student visas are not permitted to study fully online.

What are the fees for the Graduate Certificate in Business in 2026?

The 2026 domestic fee-paying postgraduate cost is approximately $19,267, based on a first-year full-time study load of 100 credits. Fees are indicative only and the total cost will depend on units selected and time taken to complete. Domestic fee-paying students may be eligible for FEE-HELP assistance.
