The Graduate Certificate in Mental Health can be completed full time in 6 months, or part-time from 12 months. The course can be completed within two (2) or more semesters of part-time study.
The Graduate Certificate in Mental Health qualification requires the completion of 4 subjects (for a total of 24 credit points): Critical Inquiry (NTI800), Mind-Body Wellness (MH801), Compassion at Work (HSW905), and Mental Health and Wellness (MH914).
Tuition fees for the Graduate Certificate in Mental Health are $11,900 for domestic students and $14,400 for international students. FEE-HELP is available to eligible Australian citizens.
Yes. Applicants with 3.5 years relevant work experience and professional training equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree or higher, in a field involving support for individuals' mental health and wellbeing, may be considered. The onus is on the applicant to provide sufficient evidence of equivalence, such as a CV, portfolio of relevant work, evidence of certification or membership with a relevant professional association, and referee or employer recommendation. An interview may also be required as part of the application process for this pathway.
Graduates will be able to apply critical thinking and postgraduate academic skills to mental health scholarship, critically analyse mind-body wellness frameworks using biological, psychological, social and spiritual perspectives, examine Buddhist principles to support ethical and compassionate responses to people experiencing mental health conditions, appraise relevant research evidence, apply communication and interpersonal skills informed by therapeutic approaches, and apply reflective and contemplative practices to critically reflect on personal assumptions, ethical sensitivity, self-stewardship and compassionate contribution.
