Graduate Certificate in Midwifery

The Graduate Certificate in Midwifery is designed to extend the skills and knowledge of practising midwives, developing advanced midwifery knowledge alongside critical thinking, analysis, innovation, leadership and research skills.
You apply established theories to practice, enhancing expert judgement and adaptability across diverse professional settings, and build the confidence to take the next step in your career.
The program is built entirely from electives, so you tailor it to your interests and career goals. Options span pharmacology, critical care, perinatal mental health, women's reproductive health and Aboriginal health. You can explore pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics and build knowledge towards accreditation for safe medication prescribing, extend your knowledge of infection prevention and control, or go deeper into child and maternal health.
Cutting-edge technology and the advances shaping the future of midwifery are covered throughout, with hands-on experience of innovative practice, and teaching comes from research-active staff.
The certificate is stackable: you can continue into the Graduate Diploma and Master of Midwifery.
The program is 24 units of electives, taken over half a year on campus at Adelaide City or online, with February and July intakes.
