Graduate Certificate in Public Health

The Graduate Certificate in Public Health provides a flexible pathway into the health sector, equipping you to address health issues from infectious diseases to chronic conditions, on local, national or global scales.
The certificate consists of two core courses in public health and two electives from the broader public health discipline, so you craft a customised study plan aligned to your interests. Core options are Introduction to Biostatistics, Introduction to Epidemiology, Global Public Health, Public Health Evaluation and Economics, Health Systems, Systems Thinking and Advocacy for Change, Promoting Health in Individuals and Populations, Environmental and Occupational Health, and Qualitative Research Methods in Health.
You can ground yourself in the basic concepts of epidemiology, or develop a critical understanding of the drivers of global health risks, while exploring the systems that govern public health services and the effect of social, cultural, economic and environmental factors on health and wellbeing.
Skills developed include crafting policies and practices that support health, and strong communication across a broad public health knowledge base — preparing you for work in areas such as epidemiology, biostatistics or health economics.
The certificate suits both professional development and a move into a new field, and flexible study options including part time are available.
The program is 24 units, taken full time over half a year at the Adelaide City Campus, with February and July intakes.
